Grants and subsidies for the digital for the digital transformation of packaging 2021 Edition
Updated 05/01/2021.
The COVID crisis led to the launch of a national and European economic recovery plan.
What grants and subsidies are available to French packaging SMEs and large industrial groups?
1. From diagnostic consulting to digital solutions
Support for the digital transformation of manufacturers in France covers upstream analysis and strategic consulting, the implementation and/or purchase of digital solutions, and training for both users and managers.
We have tried to list the various subsidies, repayable advances, loans, tax incentives and other aids in the following paragraphs. Not exhaustive, these aids differ from region to region, and our financing experts can help you to identify the most appropriate aids for your strategy and ambitions.
2. The players and assistance available for digital transformation
The initiative France Num initiative aims to help companies in all sectors to develop their business using digital technology. This initiative takes the form of a number of aids, provided by the CCI and Chambres des métiers (free diagnostics, for example) as well as by lending organizations. To find out more about the range of assistance available, region by region: https: //www.francenum.gouv.fr/comprendre-le-numerique/quelles-sont-les-aides-financieres-pour-la-numerisation-de-votre-entreprise#:~:text=R%C3%A9ussir%20la%20transition%20num%C3%A9rique%20de,%C3%A0%20hauteur%20de%2070%20%25%20maximum.
For industrial SMEs (3 to 50 employees), it is possible to apply for a "Prêt Croissance TPE" from €10,000 to €50,000 to finance their digital transformation; without personal surety or guarantee. More details: https://www.economie.gouv.fr/plan-de-relance/profils/entreprises/pret-croissance-tpe
3. Industry players and support 4.0
Consultancy support for the industry of the future is a 50 to 100% co-financing of external consultancy to carry out a diagnosis and define the roadmap, then possibly monitor the implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies.

BPI France's call for projects to support the most structuring industrial projects in the region follows a precise timetable. Subsidies based on industrial transformation projects with a minimum investment of €200,000 (expenditure base): https://www.economie.gouv.fr/plan-de-relance/profils/entreprises/soutien-investissement-modernisation-industrie (see the "territorial section")
The French regions are also involved in financing the industry of the future, through subsidies and repayable advances. We invite you to get in touch with your region.
4. Other financing solutions
In addition to subsidies, repayable grants and loans (from the State, Regions, CCI and CMA, BPI France), there are also financing solutions to strengthen your equity capital.
An example of this is the FRPME (Fonds de renforcement des PME), which is aimed at SMEs and ETIs with sales in excess of €5 million. Packaging manufacturers are eligible for this fund, which is designed to boost equity capital by between €500,000 and €5 million. The ASP (Agence de Services et de Paiement) grant for investments in transformation towards the industry of the future closed in December 2020. We hope it will be renewed: https: //www.asp-public.fr/aide-en-faveur-des-investissements-de-transformation-vers-lindustrie-du-futur
Until 2020, thetax incentive of the digital suramortissement was equivalent to reducing the taxable profits of an industrial company by up to 40% of the expenditure linked to its digital transformation: https: //www.impots.gouv.fr/portail/actualite/le-dispositif-de-suramortissement-numerique
